The Web and Internal Communications office maintains a SharePoint site that hosts files linked from NIU websites. You can request a folder within our SharePoint site to host files linked from your department’s website.
Documents hosted in SharePoint can be set to open in a browser window, instead of automatically downloading to a user’s device.
Request a SharePoint Folder
Follow these steps to request a SharePoint folder, upload documents and share them on your website:
- Ensure your document is accessible.
- Fill out (or ask your department’s web contact to fill out) the SharePoint folder request form.
- Upload the document to the SharePoint folder.
- Create an “Anyone” link to the document to post online.
How does an “Anyone” link work?
“Anyone” links allow users to view a file in a separate browser window or to download it without entering an NIU account ID. Users do not have the option to edit the file in their web browser.
